Desde 2001 ha sido corresponsal en Bruselas para medios mexicanos como Milenio, Expansión y los desaparecidos Diario Monitor y El Independiente. Periodista y sociólogo. Entre 2002 y 2020 fue corresponsal de la revista Proceso. Actualmente es director del diario El Ciudadano. Es coautor de los libros El doble asesinato de Neruda (2012) y Yo no me rendiré (2014), una investigación que descarta el suicidio de Salvador Allende y que realizó con el médico forense Luis Ravanal. Trabajó como periodista del diario ecuatoriano El Universo y como corresponsal para las revistas internacionales Mongabay y Diálogo Chino. Especializada en temas políticos, ambientales y tecnológicos por la Universidad Politécnica del Litoral, en Guayaquil. Fundador en 1999 de Cayab Estudio, dedicado a la comunicación estratégica del diseño como pensamiento innovador. El estudio obtuvo en 2014 el primer lugar en la categoría de aplicación móvil del Premio Internacional del Libro Animado Interactivo en Español Paula Benavides, que otorga el Centro Nacional de las Artes de la Ciudad de México. También recibió el primer lugar, en la categoría de Diseño Transdisciplinario, de la Bienal Iberoamericana de Diseño BID 2016 celebrado en Madrid, España.

Fue corresponsal en Italia y el Vaticano de Notimex, la agencia del Estado mexicano. En 1999 fue enviado a la guerra de Kosovo. Ha colaborado para el Canal 22 de México y otros medios en español. En México trabajó para los diarios Reforma, La Jornada y El Día y en la desaparecida televisora Imevisión. Actualmente es doctorando en el Departamento de Ciencias Sociales y Económicas de la Universidad La Sapienza de Roma, con una investigación sobre criminalidad organizada y jóvenes.

Aprendió la profesión en la agencia de noticias Europa Press. Después de varios años trabajando en Mallorca (España), un viaje a Irán provocó un punto de inflexión en su vida profesional. Se fue a vivir a ese país y trabajó desde allí como corresponsal del diario El Mundo durante dos años. En la actualidad, con base en Barcelona, colabora como periodista internacional freelance con varios medios. Su último viaje fue a Líbano para cubrir la crisis colosal que sufre el maravilloso país de los cedros.
